What is up, beautiful people!!!
I cannot believe January has gone by so fast... it is honestly really scary. (/▽\)
But I did get a good start on my reading for this year and I read 5 books in total (well 5 new books in total, 3 of them I reread).
I really enjoyed the books I've read so far and be prepared for a lot of fangirling... well more than usual (。^▽^)
I should have read more books though because university is a bit hectic at the moment so I apologise for this long overdue post. I have been reading though and I hope to keep doing so.
I need somewhere to feel calm and at peace after all, or maybe just stress in a different form, other than assignments and exams, will do juuuust fine :)
Kingdom Of Ash by Sarah J. Maas:
Rating: 5/5
When I say that this book took me on an emotional rollercoaster… That’s an understatement. It made me emotional mostly because this was, the end. Like, it’s so final and I don’t know whether to be happy about it or completely and utterly depressed.
SJM totally made my life with this book. It tied up all the loose ends and was so satisfying. I loved the character development and just that, things did not go the way I thought it would (ಥ _ ಥ)
An epic ending to an even more epic story. I recommend this series to literally any fantasy lovers, ages 17 and above.
Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman
Rating: 5/5
An utterly fascinating story. I have already done a complete review on it (which you can check out if you’d like to know more about the characters and plot).
I cannot emphasise enough how much I enjoyed this story. It was unique and refreshing, although a bit cliché in some aspects we all love a good cliché. The characters are highly lovable and the plot doesn’t quite go in the direction you expect, which is difficult to find in YA contemporaries.
I definitely recommend this book for ages 13 and above. It is extremely enjoyable and just a good story overall, not to mention how pretty the cover is (/▽\)
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho:
Rating: 4/5
An extremely charming novel about following your dreams. I really liked how interesting the characters were and the writing style was very interesting. I liked the plot a lot and it was extremely inspiring in a way.
The main character was very simple and I quite liked that because you don’t get a lot of characters that don’t want more than what they have and are pleased with their current states. I did not rate it a full 5/5 because the representation of Islam was not extremely accurate and that kind of put me off a bit.
Overall, it is definitely worth the read, especially by those who dream big.
Wild Embers by Nikita Gill:
Rating: 5/5
Poetry in itself is extremely beautiful but the way Nikita writes it just redefines beauty. From start till finish, Nikita Gill captures your interest with poetry about healing and fairy-tale retellings that are told in a much better way than the originals.
She is all about empowerment and loving yourself and forgiving and the entire book was just… art.
So calming and intriguing I couldn’t stop reading. I definitely recommend this to literally anyone looking for some motivation and healing.
Thank you for reading and don't forget to sprinkle kindness wherever you go :)
