I often need a place to write down what I feel or what I am thinking. Many MAof us need an outlet and writing can be that outlet for you. However, I am sure that if we write things down, we focus more on the negative rather than the positive and I now know that it won't help anyone to focus on the bad.
I was in a really bad place after I finished school and this gap year is not exactly helping me cope but my mom, being the hero that she is, told me about a psychologist who spoke about beginning something called a Positivity Journal.
I am, most of the time, a glass half empty type of person. But I don't particularly like seeing the worst in everything. It's kind off like my brain just went into automatic on that aspect. However, I decided to listen to my mother's advice and I started one.
Step One: Get a notebook that you love with all your heart.
I obviously saw this and died. This panda notebook is my absolute favourite thing. It's such a nice colour and it has a panda on it. I got it from CNA for those of you who would like to know. Other places to look at is Typo and even Mr Price Home has really cute things.
Looking at the panda makes me want to write in it. You don't have to write if you don't want to. You can draw. Scrapbook. Write poems. Stick motivational quote all over it. Or paste pictures of your role models telling you that YOU CAN DO IT.
The notebook is kind of crucial to the kind of things you want to put inside. Try and go for bright colours because even though dark colours are so appealing, they also increase the amount of pessimism you have floating about in your brain.
But hey, if you have a great sense of humour, buy a dark coloured journal and fill it with bright, optimistic things. Kind of disappointed in myself for not coming up with this earlier.
Step Two: Figure out what theme you'd like to keep throughout the journal.
For example, I decided to take some pretty pictures with my Instax polaroid camera and use the picture to talk about happy things.
It's okay if you don't have a polaroid camera. You could take ordinary pictures on your phone or camera and print them out. You can even use magazine cut-outs and anything you have lying around, such as ribbons or buttons.
And you can even add a border as I did.
CREATIVITY HAS NO LIMIT!
There are literally only two steps to the positive journal. It's really that easy and it also helps you feel better.
You deserve to feel only happy emotions. You will get stronger. Everything will be okay. I always remember that things need to become worse in order to become better. This journal helps me and who knows, it might help you as well.
I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

@maji I LOVE THAT NOTEBOOK 😂😭 Sometimes being a lady means being straightforward 🖤
I love the vibe of this journal. A no-nonsense, get-on-with-it-kinda-thing. Also, being a lady means being "polite". But not in personal art
